How to add a glowing effect to a lightsaber in a picture using Microsoft Powerpoint. Help?
itsgonnaraindice asked:
Well I have this picture of me holding up a lightsaber. And I want to make it look like its glowing but I have no idea how to do that. If someone could guide me through it or send me a link or something that shows how to do it then I’d really appreaciate it.

It’s do-able but kind of complex to explain. Here’s the basics of what you need to achieve:
The light saber glow will have to be created. You can do it in an image editing program like Photoshop, or you could make it, though probably not as nice, in PowerPoint 2007 using the glow in image effects.
Then you would put the picture in PowerPoint and then the glowing saber on top of it and set the saber’s animation effects to fade on and stay or fade on and fade off or repeat, etc.
If you have a pretty good working knowledge of PowerPoint and/or an image editing program, this should make sense.
Here’s a simple sample
You need to look at it in slide show to see the effect work. It’s in PPTXP/03, not 07.
The glow is done in Photoshop. It is a png, so it’s transparent and the animation in PowerPoint just fades on and repeats – that’s why it has the kind of abrupt off, but it doesn’t look bad. Timing could be played with. It loops until the next slide.
