goto lucasfilmsltd.com george lucas has the origional designs that he used for the lightsaber, unfortunately for you sweetie, the sword used in the movies is a fiberoptic tube about a 1/2 inch thick and a flaslight attached to the base of the tube to generate light. And then special effects were added for the movie- sound and light.

Game Stop video game store usually has a very nice model lightsaber for around 100 dollars. It’s got a thick plastic covering to the blade and a bright light is produced thoughout the length of the blade. It has a tilt sensor on it which is directly programed with the audio to make the appropriate noise when you tilt it a certain direction. If you can’t get it at Game Stop, best buy also carries it.
