Just what the title says; a lightsabre up against a sonic screwdriver. Now come on, _really_… Which is more useful?

What if you make one out of wood?
@HazyJonny As mentioned, a lightsabre can be made of or to look like anything. In the films they tend to keep it as simple as possible for the props designers obviously, but when people don’t operate on such restricted FX budgets (i.e. in books and games) the lightsabres can look like anything (normally something significant to the owner, or just handy). The internal components still need to be basically the same (or it won’t work at all), but even there, there’s a huge scope for variety.

@HazyJonny Depends whether the screwdriver’s effect just doesn’t work on wood or is absorbed by the wood. The latter would protect it, as it’d keep the components shielded I guess.
@BrickinFantastic A sonic screwdriver manipulates sonic waves in a manner that can open do anything a normal tool could. I do not know of a tool that can turn off lightsabers.

and its made gas lamp go out like turning them off you might think it manipulates them in such away and stuff but in the show i does much more than opening doors

@extremeTHE1 Unless he used the sonic screwdriver to fry the lightsaber’s emitter matrix. Or simply destroy the power cell. Lightsabers are very simple in design, and the Doctor is more than capable of destroying one.
the sonic screwdriver has little effect on most organic materials which is why it can’t do wood.
BUT the sonic screwdriver can basically manipulate anything mechanical, and it also has the power to ignite candles and lamps as well as welding metal so it has some sort of heat thingy to it…but nothing lethal
so yeah. pretty sure the sonic can overload, damage, destroy or switch off a lightsaber. midichlorians can’t stop the sonic!

@CptReed Jedis Don’t make there Lightsaber with Force Field if they Whould they Whould have Collapsed From Over use of it,The Only Thing They Do put inside a lightsaber is a Crystal
@strangereffect it can Also Check the Health conditian of a liveing Creature and track Ailen tech(Whice is Odd Considering IT is an ailen Tech for Earth of that time and therefor all the Tech stuff whould count as ailen lol)

@everpuppy No they just have a safety lock most often inside the hilt, so only a Jedi can use them. But that won’t stop the Sonic Screwdriver!

@TotemStorms Yes, Tenel Ka was awesome… But there are also some jedi, like Exar Kun, and more recently the Emperor (I think, I might be wrong on that), who use force-activated lightsabers, that is, there’s no external switch, you have to tap into the force and channel it through the lightsaber to get it to turn on. And as the prequel trilogy demonstrated, as well as ROTJ, a locking switch can be rather useful if, say, you need to throw your lightsaber.
