How to Make Lightsabers on GIMP
This tutorial is outdated! View the remake: www.youtube.com READ DESCRIPTION BEFORE WATCHING!!! In the making of this video tutorial I forgot to add some tips in. So I found out how to add annotations! Please pay attention to those annotations while watching this video tutorial! Oh, and one more thing: it only works for images but it’s still free and fun! So enjoy making your lightsabers and please rate and comment!!! The part when you change it to screen, it is still black. What did I do wrong? PLEASE REPLY!
It will not let me highlight my lightsabor, it highlights my whole picture. PLEASE HELP ME!
did you create the new layer? and also did you make the path on the new layer? it won’t work unless the layer is selected when you hit “selection from path”. if you selected the background layer instead of the layer you created, it will select the whole picture. otherwise i don’t know how to help.
make sure you didn’t have the background selected when you changed the mode to screen. if you really need help though, i’m working on a remake that will be more specific
select the first layer….

why don’t you just use lightsaber maker(ls maker)…it’s way easier than gimp or photoshop…

Yeah, but like I said, it won’t work on my computer. That’s why I made this tutorial, for other people who can’t get ls maker working.
you import a picture and export as JPEG or BMP
Gimp is a rather poor editor, sure it’s free, but that’s about the only positive thing you can say about it.
