Homemade Lightsaber

Had to make this for a class project. We were given a budget of , so I couldn’t make anything too impressive, but I’m happy with what I came up with. If anyone has a cheap way of making the flashlight beam brighter then please let me know! Thanks and enjoy the video:)

lol not bad. The magnet parts came loose when I dropped the board, so I have to glue them again. but it’s still holding together.

To make the beam show in the sides of the tubes, you might scuff the inside of the tube. Little tiny scratches, shallow and short, all up and down the tubes ought to deflect some of the light at different angles. Obviously you should practice on a spare tube – use fine grit sand paper wrapped around a dowel rod.

@SandsSpot Thanks. That’s not a bad idea! I’d have to take the tubes apart though cause a dowel won’t fit in the threaded end. But I might try that. I had thought about filling it with some kind of liquid and coating the walls with that. My first preference would have been fiberglass resin, but that’s too costly. Would you have any cheap ideas for some kind of coating?

    Cool.
An idea for making the blade brighter would be to maybe take a teaspoon or so of acetone and slash it around in the tube evenly then flush it out with water so it doesn’t melt it completely. The acetone would etch the inside and defuse the light.
